Unfortunately, this book is required reading for all parents of teenagers of color. Parts of it may be insulting intelligence, but unfortunately it is still important information even though dated 2002. Know and expect it will be full of over generalizations that do not apply to all states. I would rather be given the information of the worse case scenario than send my son into the U.S. South or the south side of Chicago without it. Too easy to get arrested now days and you do not want your teenager to react to a police officer the way they are inclined to react to authority in general. Train them with this book. It has practical suggestions.

This cop just teaches you how obey unlawful orders, how to prepare for a cop assault on a citizen in order to make it look like you are not going down for police assault, resistance, or any movements that will justify a cop killing you as well as how to bend over for corrupt police when engaged in many scenarios. This book is just teaching society how to forfeit and become subject to obedience/ controled by a bunch of tyrannical narcissistic badge bullies. I never heard him mention the number 1 way to defend yourself and your freedom. EVEN BETTER TO HAVE THE RECORDING STREAMED AND DOWNLIADED TO AN OUTSIDE SOURCE IN REAL TIME. MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THIS IS VEING RECORDED AND STREAMED TO A SAFE OFFSITE LOCATION. I WILL ASSURE YOU THAT THE COP WILL 9.9 OUT OF 10 TIMES THINK TWICE EVEN THREE OR FOUR TIMES BEFORE TRYING TO FRAUDULENTLY INCRIMINATE YOU, ASSAULT YOU, MOST IMPORTANTLY POROTECTING YOUR LIFE. YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO RECORD UNDER THE FIRST AMMENDMENT THAT INCLUDES FREEDOM OF PRESS, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. He does illustrate how there is a real motivation for cops to make as many arrests as poissible essentially with the intention of incriminating any poissible subject. REMEMBER YOU HAVE THE 5TH AMMENDMENT that give you the right to be silent. You dont have to answer a single question. (certain scenarios you may want to choose wise words such as any traffic srops where you know you broke a law)Ill only use 3 simple responses in broken record, especially when I know they are trying to do abything they can to illegitimatly make me a "criminal".1. Am I being detained /arrested officer?2.If im being detained /arrested, what am I being detained / arrested for officer?3. If im not being detained /arrested, am I now free to leave Officer?Other than those responses right there I will remain silent while recording the entire situation (knowing of course I have done nothing wrong and the police are just trying to wronfully incriminate me or get me to incriminate myself through malicious psychological/ social tactics**) .**What you say CAN and WILL be used against you and NEVER to deffend/help your matter in any court. This author also claims that one of your best methods of defense is to simply avoid and stay our of sight from law enforcement.... Just what society needs.... The fear of being fraudulently incriminated by the police which are the public's servants intended to protect and serve, as well as maintaining the peace as our taxes represent "we the people" symbolizing the employer as to police representing the employed by the public for which its sworn by oath to the Constitution of the United States.

It was good and informative. I sort of took some of it with a grain of salt. Some sexism, which I did my best to ignore. The main writer, Dale, is a cop and FBI agent turned lawyer, so he's seen it from both sides. It makes me wonder if he would have been as hard on lawyers as he is on cops, if he had written this book as a cop. But I am in no position to argue with him. He knows a lot more than I do, and a lot of the stuff is common sense that it doesn't hurt to hear again, even though you might think, as I did sometimes, "well, duh". One thing he emphasizes throughout the book is that you don't want to ever get arrested nowadays, because once you do, your name is on the national computers and you will be assigned to what Dale calls "the electronic plantation", unable to get a good job.

good book. A little statist (the guy used to be an FBI agent), but who better to tell you how those guys think?Read it carefully, underline important things with a highlighter, then re-read just the highlighted parts every six months until it's second nature.

For all who are still ignorant or clueless about how the justice-, law-enforcement- and surveillance-system is designed and works(even against law abiding citizens), this book is highly recommended as it really may help especially those younger folks to survive adolescence unscathed and to stay out of the "plantation", as the author describes the place nobody likes to be "planted" in; or it may help older fellas to help themselves and others, to reconsider and make smarter choices to keep out of trouble; out of jail or prison.The message of this story: Keep your head on, use common sense, don't become nobody's fool, stay free!A worthwhile, quick and easy read.

Anon this book is very good. One thing doesn't jutify 1-star. Cops can circumvent the camera or they can arrest you. If you get arrested even falsely you will have a bad future. He is not 'helping the government make us all robots/slaves'. Unfortunately you will need to read these type of books in the age of internet.

Nothing is going to stop an arrest if they really want to take you in. But if you want to know the real rules of the road over and beyond the drivers license manual this is a must read. If you have a teen that is just starting to drive this is an excellent book to work through with them. It will also open up a multitude of discussion topics about the world we currently live in. Most importantly it tells you when to keep your mouth SHUT, accept the ticket and take it up with the judge.

I find this book to be highly repetitious. The author's comments on Class 3 weapons make it hard for me to believe he was a cop, an FBI agent, or is now a criminal defense attorney.
