Great resource book for Hazmat/First responders. If you're in the business of Safety/Firefighting/EMS/Law Enforcement responders etc. you need one of these guidebooks. This guidebook gives you the steps for properly addressing chemical releases, fuel leaks, or any hazardous materials incidents. It covers proper steps for scene control and isolation, evacuation distance, and many other factors such as chemical identification by name (alphabetic), hazard ID number (placards), and the guides to handle that type of chemical/hazmat incident. The guidebook also addresses the type of ppe required, firefighting steps to put out a chemical fire and definitions of commonly used terms in the field. There is also a guide on rail car and road trailer identification, type of placards and a list of emergency response telephone numbers in North and South America (US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia).
This is a handy book for first responders or for anyone who is curious about what those big rigs are hauling down the interstate. I bought this in both book form and Kindle so I can have it on my Dell Venue tablet. I have one with me all the time as my work takes me to catastrophic incidents several times a year. A great source of information once you master the use of it. I would recommend this for professionals or just the curious.
Clearly a useful product. The pages are sturdy and the book is affordable.There is, however, a free App version for iOS and Android. Might save you a purchase.
I'm a volunteer firefighter and even though we have copies in each of the engines, I like having a copy in my car in case I need to respond directly to the scene, no longer needing to wait for the trucks to get there before I could get started looking things up. Essential for all firefighters
Great read. If you come upon a tanker spill or just want to know what the placards on those 18 wheelers mean, this book is the one for you. VERY HELPFUL in case of an emergency if you happen to be the first on scene. You can give the 911 dispatcher info of the situation from what you learned From reading this book.
Everyone needs one in each vehicle they own in case of emergency! Being retired law enforcement, wouldn't be without one!
