This book has a useful format, but it is riddled with typos and inconsistency between the instructions and the answers given. The errors are so many that it interferes with a beginner's ability to learn. I know all books have a few wrong answers in the back, but this numbers in the 10-20 per chapter range, sometimes more. I hope they reedit it, because I did like the design. If they do, they should expand the conversions section to include more household and apothecary problems. The CD is just a condensed version of the book, no new problems to work on.

This book was on my "required" list, even though we never use it in class. I used it a couple of times to look up formulas for drips/min but other than that I have not used it. I tried to do some practice problems out of it but the method that they use is not the same as the one we use in class and it has been more confusing than helpful. If you need extra practice and are willing to dig through this then try to find a cheap one. Otherwise I would look for a better teaching book.

I began using this book prior to my first semester of nursing school. I was worried about drug calculations as it had been many years since I took a math class. This book was so helpful in refreshing me on basic math all the way through to complicated drug calculations. The cd that comes with the book is also great because it has additional practice questions. I would recommend this to any nursing student for help with drug calc as it is very "user friendly."

Good book. Kinda basic but does the trick. Apparently there are some misprints in here so be careful. Had a great teacher that pointed them out before we got confused. If you buy it I wonder if your professor will catch it.

I ordered this book as a birthday gift for a friend who is a nursing student. Much to my surprise, ALL if the pages are stuck together, and cannot be unstuck, which renders this book useless. If the seller has a replacement, I would like it replaced ASAP, as my friend needs it for her classes. I have submitted a ticket to Amazon, but have not heard back about a replacement.

I ordered these books for college at a very reasonable price. As all of my purchases from Amazon.com, I received them in a very timely manner of about three days. The books were in excellent condition. I recommend everyone order their college books through Amazon as I am very satisfied.

I bought this book through Elsevier to study for NCLEX-RN. 2 days and so far i found 2 typos and errors.IV Calculation section - I found entries in the equations which was not mention in the problem in the first place. So you wonder, where did that came from....I'm sure there are better Drug Calculation book with concise and correct information. This book is NOT!!!

This was a brand new book. I received it in a reasonable time but this book was a mess. The corners were all bent, there were pages crinkled, and about 20 pages in the back were torn halfway up off the binding. I did return it and I got a new one very fast without any charge. I was very pleased with the whole return process, and customer service couldn't have been nicer.

The third edition of Cultures and Organizations manages to significantly improve a great book. As a professor I have become deeply cynical of new editions -- I see shameless textbook producers make trivial changes every 18 months to kill off competition from used books. Fortunately this is not a text and the changes are real improvements from the previous edition.If you are interested in globalization or comparative cultures you will want to buy and read this book even if you have already devoured the second edition. The most obvious changes: the expanded chapter (2) on studying cultural differences, the new proposed cultural dimension of indulgence (8), and the new chapter on evolution of cultures (12) are more than worth the time and effort of acquiring the new book.This new edition resolves a dilemma for me: I was always torn between recommending Cultures and Consequences or Cultures and Organizations as an intro to Hofstede's ideas for someone who wanted a deep understanding of the research. I would now recommend that everyone, academic, business person, or curious reader, start with the third edition of Cultures and Organizations.

If you travel overseas or work with organizations outside the U.S., I recommend that you read this book. The concept that culture forms the software of the mind intrigues me. In my travels I find that people in other countries do not view many things in the same way that I do. This book provides a framework for analyzing different viewpoints through consideration of the cultures from which they grow. For example, the author considers the cultural values of individualism versus collectivism. He argues that individualism may be almost completely explained by the wealth of a society - the wealthier the society the more individualism one finds expressed. Collectivism tends to dominate as a cultural value where wealth is not pervasive; consequently, in much of the world, collectivism prevails as a cultural value over individualism.The book reviews values from Western, Asian, and global perspectives. While many values overlap, the author delves into the areas where cultural values differ within each of these perspectives. This, too, adds value to the book.Overall, I think that the book encourages one to consider the cultural lenses through which one views the world. It provides an analytical framework to undertake this process. The author recognizes that one cannot escape one's own culture when looking at others (the software of the mind concept). I had the impression that he prefers cultural responses more in keeping with his Dutch background.The book encouraged me to consider the positive and negative aspects of different cultural features. The author would argue that the act of viewing a culture positively or negatively requires acceptance of a cultural viewpoint. I agree, but I think that this is part of the book's value; it encourages one to consider one's own mental landscape. I did not agree with all of the author's conclusions and believe that there are influences that lie outside the book's purview that affect people's behavior. Nevertheless, if you want to look at the software in your own mind, this is a good place to start.

I first read/studied this book when I did my MBA in Graduate school. Since then, I have read and re-read it and each time, it has uncovered and unleashed more wisdom upon me on this topic. Not only does the book teach me how to isolate and be conscious of cultural sensitivities, it, more importantly reveals how unconscious, most people (we interact with) are on this topic. Cultural dimensions are examined and topics such as the "Power Distance", "Authority", "Time" "Non-Verbal communication", "Uncertainty avoidance", "Collectivism versus individualism", and "Femininity versus masculinity" are studied and explained in deeper depth.I find that reading this book together with another book titled "International Business Communication" by Dr. David A. Victor would greatly enhance your understanding of the theories and concepts expounded by Dr. Hofstede. Dr. Victor invented a model (LESCANT) that simplifies the understanding of "Software of the Mind". "LESCANT is an acronym that represents seven areas in which cultural issues arise when dealing with international business communication. The acronym stands for Language, Environment, Social Organization, Context, Authority, Non-Verbal, and Time. Dr. David A. Victor, who is a professor of management and the Director of International Business Programs at Eastern Michigan University, created the model." Having worked internationally as a marketing researcher for more than two decades, I can say that the book basically reflects my own observations but feel the authors over-interpret their data. Methodologically, it does not strike me as rigorous (e.g., confusion of factor and cluster analysis, use of stepwise regression, how scale usage patterns are handled). The authors also let their political views intrude a bit too much in my opinion, which draws into question their interpretation of their data in some parts of the book. All that said, if you work internationally it's probably a must read, given its influence, and the book is a strong reminder that culture does matter in the business world.

Aaron Rezny has spent more than 20 years shooting food and tabletop photography. Rezny, the son of Polish immigrants, began his photographic career at an early age and eventually established his own studio in 1979. His photography has been featured in major marketing campaigns for Nestlé, Duncan Hines, Kellogg's, Russell Stover, Nabisco, and Applebee's among other brands. His work has also appeared in New York Magazine, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, and The Wall Street Journal. He can be found online at rezny.com.Jordan Schaps began his photo-directing career at New York magazine in 1978. A celebration of Jewish food, it accurately calls itself. It has a few recipes, but it is mostly full of delightful stories, photographs, and jokes. For me, someone who grew up in a Jewish family in the Lower East Side in Manhattan, it was a trip to my childhood.

The designers of the book were concerned only with design resulting in many pages and titles that are illegible as the ink is almost the color of the paper. assanine design. they created a book not to be read but placed on the cocktail table for looks.

What can I say? If you've: grown up eating any of these foods; lived any length of time in NYC or other places with a large Eastern-European Jewish (Ashkenazi) population; or are just interested in this type of cuisine, then this is a book for you!

I gave the book to my cousin in Myrtle Beach. She hasn't stopped raving about it. She is from Brooklyn and is a fabulous cook. The recipes are just like our families made.The pictures are marvelous. She is printing a copy of the Charlotte Russe to hang in her kitchen. She sent a copy to her sister in Mass. and I sent another to my friend on Roosevelt Island. The comments are universally more than positive. The only complaint is about the print. It is hard to make out in some places.I have never given a gift with such happy results.

Absolutely unique and interesting. It delves into the culture and the ethnic eating habits so tastefully.The jokes were a surprise bonus.

Beautiful photos, wonderful anecdotes, fantastic old Bubbie recipes.. It would be a great gift, but I am keeping it for myself. I live in Brooklyn, and some of those places mentioned are still open for shopping heaven!

Brings back, so many memories, and does, make you yearn, for some of tha,t real old style Jewish food!!!

This is a terrific book and a great gift for anyone who loves food or gets yearnings for some of the featured delicacies you can only find in one place…New York City. It's well designed, written and produced with the photography as sumptuous as the subject matter. Congratulations to the creators!

I'm also a sucker for second chance romances, and while the brief length of this novella limits reader engagement in Wilhelmina and Edgar's story, even from this brief sample it is abundantly clear that Turano is capable of telling a charming tale with warmth and humor.Those looking for historicals with historical depth will not find that here, for At Your Request is essentially a Hallmark romantic comedy with rudimentary historical trappings for color. The dialogue lacks spark or the flavor of historical authenticity, overly formal and often clunky. That said, I believe Turano fills a unique niche within the historical fiction market, bringing humor and a contemporary sensibility to her writing that possesses great potential, leaving me curious to sample Turano's full-length fiction. The first book in the Apart From the Crowd series, Behind the Scenes, releases in April, and follows the budding romance introduced here between Wilhelmina's fellow wallflower, Permilia Griswold, and department store owner Asher Rutherford. I really enjoyed Permilia's character, and her spark-filled introduction to Asher reminded me of Mr. Selfridge -- so I am already invested in their story. At Your Request was the perfect introduction (at long last!) to Turano's lite historical romantic comedies. While not without issues, I enjoyed this sample and am curious to see how Turano's humor and heart translate to a full-length work.

I like Turano's historical romance novels because the humor comes from funny situations rather than laughing at the stupidity of the characters. This short story was a fail for me in that regard: Wilhelmina is an adult, not-slim woman. Yet she tries to hide under a chair at a dance and gets stuck. I couldn't imagine why any sane woman would think this would work and promptly lost all respect for her.Then the hero--while promising he'd never put the heroine in a compromising position--promptly puts her in a compromising position. So he also promptly lost my respect.The story did get better after that, back to what I'd expect from Turano. The hero did some very nice things for the heroine. Also, this story made me very interested in reading Miss Permilia Griswold's story.There was no sex or bad language. I wouldn't recommend this as your first Jen Turano read, but I'd still recommend it to her fans as it introduces the characters in the "Apart from the Crowd" series.

Jen Turano is one of my favorite authors, she writes books with humor that keeps her readers entertained!At Your Request is the prequel to Turano's new series Apart From the Crowd. This book introduced us to Wilhelmina and .EdgarWilhelmina Radcliff is a feisty woman and the beautiful cover model definitely shows this character well! She's regulated to the wallflower section because her father lost his fortune.Edgar Wannamaker returns to New York after being away for seven year. He is Wilhelmina dearest friend but more. He returns for one thing. Wilhelmina. Both of discover they love each other.Edgar investigates Wilhelmina's loss of family fortune. What he discovers could change everything!This story made me laugh so hard. Jen is an expert at weaving her stories so you have humor, truth, love, and a lessen all weaved together! Beautifully done! I cannot wait for Behind the Scenes!

I have read the other short story “Gentleman of her Dreams” by this author before and quite enjoyed it, and since this was another free short story I had to read this one as well. This is a nice lead in for a new series, I liked the characters and how they found each other again. It's just a very sweet and clean romance story. The last third or so is a sample from “Behind the Scenes” the first new book in this series coming out in April, and that does look like a really good read so I'm definitely going to be reading that when it comes out. Overall this is a great story, worth the read if you're looking for a shorter historical romance, and I'm looking forward to reading more of this authors books in the future.

I like the Rachael Hales 2018 cats calendar. The 2019 calendar doesn't disappoint. The simple background always accentuates the cutenesss of these kittens. The print quality is good, too.

I'm a speech language pathologist and wanting to read some books to my students for Autism Acceptance/Awareness Month. This book is a good introduction to neurotypical kids about what autism may look like in a peer, and overall it's pretty positive from the point of view of Matt's neurotypical friend. I'd say this book is more focused on awareness than acceptance. I do think it paints ASD in a more "normal" light than many books out there, and focuses on inclusion. In the story, the friend gives examples of things that Matt (the child with ASD) struggles with and then follows up with how the narrator helps him continue on with the activity. I'm just crossing my fingers to find a book out there with this same idea but from the point of view of the child with autism!

I am not a fan of most books about autism on the market these days but my librarian mother suggested I get this book. I got two. One for the school library and one for home to lend to the families of school friends.Although this is written from the perspective of a friend and that friends name is never identified, the other character with autism is. I believe it’s positive and practical and a great tool for both my children to learn how to be solution oriented when a friend is doing something they don’t understand or they find annoying. It creates understanding, and tools for kids to use to think out of the box! I highly recommend this book!

I really like this book. it's about a boy who is autistic and how his friend adapts to some of the quirks autistic children sometimes exhibit. and how it's ok. I bought it so that my son's teacher could read it to his kindergarten class. because they're in kindergarten i didn't want the word "AUTISM" to turn into something demeaning, (so, although it is well written and I like the idea behind it), I took the liberty of applying some low-tack tape to cover some words and lines that I thought might give children ideas on how to single out, make fun of or choose to marginalize my son or other children who just didn't fit the typical child frame. not taking anything away from the author, but I think it worked out well. I would still recommend this book and leave it up to parents to decide how they want to present it.

I have been looking for a good book to explain Autism. I like this book because it explains it in a very relatable way. It worked well for us because the little boy in the story seems to be pretty high functioning and it related well to our situation. It is not perfect, but it was the best I have found for our situation. The kids seem to enjoy reading it also.

I bought this book to donate to my son's class and it was perfect. A great book for classmates to read and get a better understanding of their autistic peer.

Got this for my three year old and we both love it. It's very sweet and has sparked a lot of conversation about being a good friend, and about everyone learning to do things at their own pace. I've even seen him use what he's learned from the story in his interactions at daycare.

A great book that explains to younger children Autism and how they can be friends.

I read this to students in kindergarten all the way to 5th grade. It really helped students relate and they loved the book as well. I especially like how it shows how we can be good friends to all.
