A very comprehensive book that should be in the library of every serious filmmaker. The author knows his stuff and shares it in a way where anyone can understand and go out in search of financing for film.

This is basically just a list of ways to finance a film. Each method is listed with advantages and disadvantages, most of which you could easily discern for yourself. If you are looking for something that reveals some insider secret to financing your film, this is not it. Does give some informative terminology, but nothing you couldn't find in any number of other books. If you are new to the business, I recommend something a little more in depth, even producer production notes will be more helpful. If you're a pro, this will give you no new insight.

The book does has some useful tidbits here and there, but all in all it's asking price (when I bought it for $35) was grossly excessive, particularly its legal section. If its not on discount (<$10) don't bother.

I've gone through this book from cover to cover and find it invaluable. Mr. Cones is very thorough in has coverage and assessment of the different ways to finance a film. He explains securities, as well as non-securities financing on a level that is appealing to both the beginner, as well as established film makers. In addition, he explains the popular business structures and how they can benefit your film. Most important, Mr. Cones writes with ethical candor. I love it!

How helpful this book is depends on how "green" you are about the film industry. Those with little to no knowledge about film production will find the book resourceful, informative and very "to-the-point" about the different types of financing available. The advantage/disadvantage sections are especially concise--it's always good to see both sides when it comes to deals potentially worth millions. The "further reading" sections at the end of chapter are also handy, if you want to do extra research on your own.For those who are experienced film producers (or even those who have finished rigorous film producing and/or entertainment business academic programs, such as myself), the information may repeat many things you already know. Many of the strategies in this book I've learned about in producing classes and film financing seminars--and I'm just starting my career. So I'm sure that some seasoned producers may think this book is reinventing the wheel. However, I did think that the sections dealing with the different securities and corporation options were very informative as far as how they impact your tax status, the difference between active and passive investors, how your autonomy as a filmmaker/producer may be affected, etc. It breaks down a lot of tax legalese into layman's terms.Overall, I recommend the book--as a primer for new producers and students, and as a great reference guide to those with experience.

Mr. Cones has put together an excellent resource for indie filmmakers. My lawyer recommended his work to me, as he's already laid out the difficulties and intricacies of financing a film, and it's a lot cheaper (per hour) to read the book than to have my lawyer explain it to me. At times, it's daunting...but that's the nature of the material. Plus, you can skip to the relevant section of funding that works for your particular project.

We love ALL of the Berenstain Bear books, but this is one of our favorites. In this story, Sister Bear is a tag-along with Brother and his friends and they don't mind until she starts winning all of the games and is a boastful. They begin to exclude her and make a clubhouse in which girls are not allowed. She is upset and makes her own clubhouse for girls. The always wise Mama Bear explains that she might not have been excluded for being a girl, but because of how she acted when she won. Sister decides to include the boys and they reciprocate. Great book for the stage when boys and girls realize they are different and begin to exclude each other.

Good Book, my daughter made me buy every one for her and she reads them to me before bed. The lessons in these books should be mandatory reading for adults when they turn 21, it would make the world a more friendly place.

I remember reading this as a child and I'm so happy to share the story with my kids. It's a cute book with a good "moral of the story" moment about gloating and being fair. My son loves all the Berenstain Bears books, can't really go wrong.

This is the best christian book I have read in quite a while. It is hard these days to find a book that is not full of fluff. This one definitely is not. This book is real, and gives real guidance on our battle with our flesh. So grateful to have found it.

This is a book based on the work of Jon Owen. The author has done an amazing job converting the more archaic language to something a modern audience can enjoy. The concepts are life giving and the advice practical.

One of my pet peeves is Christian books that are 150 pages long with about 10 pages of actual words. The rest being fluff they added to meet requirements.This book is a short read with 0 percent fluff. It is incredibly helpful and is what many people need to realize that yes, sin is in us, and yes, it is a loathsome, nauseating and disgusting monster, but Christ gives us the power to fight and win!!!!!Thanks Kris! Love your book.

After reading this book with a time of fellowship with two friends to go over the questions provided in each chapter it has helped me understand clearly how to fight sin in this life better than before. It has great support for scriptures to ties in how to grow in holiness. I started using bible verses written in note cards as I carry them around when I'm out and about. When times of testing, I use those notecards and this book to remind myself what is going on biblically than being rational. At this time, I am going through a time of discipleship where you are rediscovering the gospel is key to understanding why Jesus is better than pursuing after things of the world and listening to the Word is important as a follower of Christ.If you want to understand better in fighting temptations and to grow in holiness, you got to buy this book. Rediscover the gospel and remember the promises of God. Don't give up.

I would describe this book as a spiritual self-help book that, through scripture, lays out the truth that the "self" is the problem. This, combined with a recent sermon, reminded me that His strength is strongest in my weakness, and drove the point deeper than just to my intellect. A revelation that I cannot force you to share. The wisdom of the original writer, along with the writing of Lundgaard, and a very thorough reliance on scripture, make this to be a great book that I will use for years to come, rather than a bible study to be completed. I recommend to any Christian, regardless of spiritual maturity.

One (if not the) best Christian books I've read (which are many). I try not to highlight too much, but here almost every page has at least one! Now to apply the content fully! I will have to read again and again, but that will be wonderful.
