This is a delightful picture collection of Victorian gems. It was useful to see how the Victorian cottages were restored and updated. We're looking for inspiration to do the same in Asbury Grove, and we found the book got the wheels turning.

If you have visited Martha's Vineyard, you can't take the pictures as well as this book has. Great to show other's the area.

This translation is OK, but you should know that the product information is incorrect.Additionally, the two versions I refer to use ALL CAPS instead of italics. Nietzsche loves his italics, especially in BGE. It's like he's screaming every other sentence.

This ebook is illegible. Someone just did an OCR scan of an existing translation, without fixing any of the problems. About once a sentence, two or more words are crammed together likethis.

This is the third book I've read of Nietzsche's. The first was a collection from various writings, and the second was "The Anti-Christ." Beyond Good and Evil was Nietzsche's attempt to summarize his entire philosophy into one book. I don't know if I'd ever call anything Nietzsche wrote a summary, but this book does lay out his principles in black-and-white, and it did help me put some of the pieces together.Below are a few of my takeaways. It's not a summary, because I don't even know if that's possible. So I just wanted to share a few things I've picked up on.On the will to power:If modern (nineteenth century) man is no longer going to believe in God, or at least if they're going to tone down His influence a bit, the next logical step for them was the concept of free will. In a post-enlightenment world, people were trying to understand if there really is a God pulling our strings like puppets. If they weren't going to believe that, the next logical step was free will. Nietzsche rejects free will and instead believes in the will to power. Essentially the will to power is his phrase that means people should aim to take power over themselves and create a "superman" or "overman" out of themselves. Nietzsche sees this as an alternative to the concept of free will.On religion -Another thing that I noticed about Nietzsche after reading a fair bit of his work is that, as critical as he is of Christianity, he seems to have a bit of an affinity for Buddhism, or at least the principles of Buddhism. Buddhism's primary concept is "life is suffering," right? Nietzsche writes extensively about suffering as well, arguing in part that the cause of all great human advancement is suffering. In the Anti-Christ, he often points out that Buddhism is better than Christianity. To be fair, there was a pretty short list of things that weren't better than Christianity, according to Nietzsche.I love the short epigrams and how Nietzsche is capable of concentrating so much meaning into such few words-"Blessed be the forgetful: for they forget their stupidities, too.""Whoever reaches his ideal transcends 'eo ipso.'""'Where the tree of knowledge stands, there is always Paradise': thus speak the oldest and the youngest serpents."*eo ipso = thereby

Great translation by Judith Norman! I much prefer it to the standard Walter Kaufmann translation.

Terrible print job, Create Space. Margins are microscopic, spacing is awful, text is crammed in so tightly I need reading glasses. Buy any other copy.Good words, bad publisher.

The written material in this book is acceptable but the book itself, that being the page is not upon opening the book I discovered this. The first three pages had the top right-hand corner are bent to an angle as to where they are not attached to the binding and thus make an indent into the cover of the book which ruins the pristine and beautiful image on the cover with a bulge that is clearly visible. I request a refund or at the very least new copy of this book that is free of misprints.

I can merely say I have read it 7 times in the last two years and each time I gain a new insight into Nietzsche's thoughts about how humans can live joyful, productive lives in the face of constant reminders that the world and existence are unpredictable, cruel, often vicious and threatening, The ideas presented here are expanded in his later work.He has a terrific sense of humor. I prefer Walter Kaufmann's translations.

Nietzsche was brilliantly crazy or crazy brilliant, perhaps it was both. Not an obvious genius, but his wisdom is counter-intuitive and worthy of reflection. He was perhaps the most brilliant philosopher of his time, certainly not the most conventional--but arguably the most sagacious about many matters. It is a shame that he descended into madness. He is not to be read quickly, because in so doing you will miss the point. Worth reading and reflecting on, particularly if you study philosophy seriously.

My only complaint is that it does not contain nutritional information, which cooking for a diabetic I would prefer. The recipes look good and there are not a lot of recipes with "exotic" (for my location) items.

This book is truly a professional fish cooker's book. It starts at A and goes through where to buy, how to pick out raw fish, how to fillet, scale and clean whole fish, the whole deal. Was waaaay more than I expected or really needed, but it's cool to have the info. I just expected a book of recipes and it's almost a fish encyclopedia. The book came quickly and in very good shape. I love fish and am enjoying expanding my knowledge of how to cook creatively.

My husband and I grew up on Mrs. Paul's fish sticks so when our doctor told us to 'eat more fish' we had no idea what to do with it (other than using tinned salmon and tuna for sandwiches & casseroles). This book has been a valuable resource -- especially since it lists alternatives to recipe named fish and we live in a medium-small city away from the coast so not all varieties of seafood are available to us. We have enjoyed using many of the recipes in this book.

I am a very busy mom who is trying to implement more fish into my family's diet. This book does not fit our needs as a family. It's way too complicated! For someone who truly wants to learn the art of making fish and has plenty of spare time, this book would be excellent. For someone looking for very quick, easy seafood dinners with normal ingredients, I would not recommend it.

AWESOME!! I have only tried a few of the recipes: Crispy Calamari, Fried Oysters (sandwich), and the Scallops Hush Puppies....all have been wonderful!! The Crispy Calamari was better than what I have ever had in a restaurant! I order a lot of Calamari when I go to a restaurant as an appetizer or meal. The recipes are simple to follow, ingredients that are easy to find and I just love the "Tips" section at the bottom of the recipes. I cannot wait to try the other recipes and will definitely be giving a book to my parents for Christmas this year. Any fish-lover ought to buy this book, put it on your Christmas list or request it as a Birthday gift.

This book was described to me as being for people who are very uncertain of cooking fish at home, so I wasn't sure how useful it would be for a family that already cooks fish relatively frequently. The answer: it's a great cookbook regardless of your comfort level with fish because of the varied recipes and how tasty the results are. The sauces, marinades, and spice combinations are different than I've seen elsewhere and the results have made us go back for more. Our favorite so far is a bizarre-sounding ceviche with Asian ingredients like fish sauce and hoisin sauce. My husband, who loves Mexican-style ceviche, said, "We're making that?" and afterwards said, "We're making that again!" One feature we like is how the recipes call for a particular fish but have a section labeled "Accept Substitutes" that suggests other fish or shellfish that will work equally well. That gives us latitude when shopping. As another reviewer mentioned, some of the best recipes are for things that go *with* the fish. We loved a tomatillo salsa that we made along with some grilled shrimp and squid.

Cooking fish has always been a bit intimidating to me. However, I felt it was time to branch out from the boring fish "recipes" I have cooked in the past (bread and fry, snore). So far, I have tried several of the recipes, and they have turned out very well! My two favorites so far are the Almond Crusted Barramundi (I used swordfish) and the Sauteed Salmon with Moroccan Spices. The flavors have been excellent, but these are not easy-peasy, super quick recipes... a lot of the recipes seem to require making spice rubs, from-scratch dressings, and so on. I enjoy this kind of cooking, but don't always have the time to create a spice rub prior to starting the actual recipe. If you have the time, though, you'll end up with a meal that is out of this world! I am definitely going to use the Moroccan Spice tomato sauce for other dishes in the future... it was amazing. I am going to keep creating special meals from this cook book for years to come.

So many people have said to me "I hate fish" and I believe that you hate fish because they cooked it wrong. Most people overcook their fish and then it's a dry piece of cardboard hardly edible. This book explicitly describes how to cook fish, how to work with it, gives sustainable alternatives, fish tips and options of fish for each recipe. The bonus part is that the recipes are really good! Perfect for those people who would like to give a chance to fish ans seafood but have been to afraid to try it because they think it's too difficult to work with fish.

FISH, in my opinion, is the BEST cookbook. If you want a wonderful selection of recipes- you'll find some favorites and many new recipes you'll definitely want to try. Lots of Gorgeous photos. AND if you are like me, & want to actually learn as much as you can about the foods you are cooking,.... well you have found the perfect cookbook all about FISH.I am a pretty experienced cook AND an avid cookbook collector. You will want this book in your collection too!
