I thought this would be a great activity book for my child who loves to read and loves activity books. Turns out it was a little young for my 10 year old. Either that or he just flat out didnt like that this book was telling him he had issues. Great idea for the frustrated child althiough mine did not seem to be interested.

This is a workout book for anger management for children and their parents. There are check-lists to pinpoint areas that make you angry. It has exercises to help calm you down and it gives suggestions on how to use anger as a way to make changes. A great guide for 2nd grade-early teens. The black and white drawings are funny but get the point across. Lots of humor helps make this interesting and not a drudge.

This is great tool to use in individual and group therapy.

This is the second copy of this book I have purchased to use in my practice with children and adults. The other copy is usually loaned out. I use this book with adult clients as well as children to help them understand very clearly the relationship between thoughts and emotions, and useful coping strategies. Parents like it to reinforce the work of therapy, and other adult clients like the simplicity of the book, and how quickly one can read it. It is the Cliff Notes version of other more complicated texts on anger and stress management. A great addition to your clinician toolbox.

I don't write many reviews, but for this series I will! I absolutely loved this book and the others in the same series. Tamera did a masterful job of exploring each of the characters and drawing me in. I couldn't leave the books alone! I felt like I was in Timber Ridge! The challenges the characters faced are easy to relate to as we too, face many of the same things. I was so sad when I finished the 3rd book as I did not want the story to end! I can easily see where other story lines can pick up from here and go on to expand the awesome story of Timber Ridge! I am hoping like crazy Tamara decides to add additional volumes to the Timber Ridge series...I will be the first in line to get them!

This is the third book in the Timber Ridge Reflections series. The first two books are From a Distance and Beyond this Moment.Rand is the town's doctor and has been through a lot. He's had his eye on Rachel Boyd for a long time, but she's made it clear that she doesn't want to have anything to do with him. When one of their friends begins to have heart troubles, they need to team up to try and make him better.Rachel's husband died and she's unwilling to risk her heart again. She looks at Rand through glasses that are tainted by memories of her father. While it's unfair, the more time she spends with him, the more she has to admit that he may not have as much in common with her father as she believed.These two both have fears they keep close. Rand is deathly afraid of the dark, and with good reason I might add, and Rachel doesn't want to go through the pain of losing a spouse again. They're going to have to overcome their fears to be together, especially Rachel.The first book, From a Distance, was about Daniel and Elizabeth. They both pop up in this book, as well as the characters from the second book, Beyond This Moment. James and Molly are the main characters in that one and show up a lot as well, especially James since he's Rachel's brother. You can read these out of order, but there are hints of things that have happened in the other books that I didn't remember.

I bought all three of the Timber Ridge Reflections for my Kindle. Loved everything, the story, the characters, the suspensejust about everything. My only complaint is that Tamera Alexander's kindle prices have gone up considerably. I know theauthor has nothing to do with the priceing of her books, but I hesitate to buy more of her books. I fell so bad that thebooks I reviewed were priced high. I even checked the book bundles and they gave me no break.

I have read all of Tamera Alexandra's books - (that I know of) and have enjoyed most of them thoroughly. This book, Within My Heart, which is the third in her series Timber Ridge Reflections, is my favorite out of the 3. I really loved the first one, and only just liked the second one, so it took me a while to decide to invest my time (and money) on the third one. I was not disappointed.Within My Heart has depth. Both in the characters and in the main story line - as well as a few other side story lines that make this book a rich and satisfying read.It is a very emotional book. About love and death - and trusting God to have the best plan for you - instead of holding so tight to your own plans, desires, and fears.Tamera Alexandra is a very gifted writer who has the ability to weave different people's situations into one book - and makes you feel like you know these people.I highly recommend Within My Heart. But you should read the other two in the series first, From a Distance, and Beyond This Moment because many of the characters are tied together from the very start. Reading the other two first will give clarity to some of the situations that play out right to the end of book number 3.Very well done - and worth your time to read.

I assume you have read the general description of the storyline. This is a clean, Christian romance. I'll be honest, I shed some tears. This is not a fluffy light read. It is beautifully written with depth and emotion. AlongsIde the tears were silent nods of personal understanding, smiles and, more than one satisfied sigh. By the time I read the last word I knew I would be reading it again in the future. It is not just the storyline that is well done but the writing itself at times seems almost poetic with beautiful description. It is well edited which also enhances the smooth flow. The Christian thread is not hidden, nor is it harshly shoved at you. It flows naturally within the lives of the characters. There are no cliffhangers or obvious hooks to drag you into purchasing another book (I hate that). There are characters and hints of events from the past and room for more in the future but neither cause this story to feel incomplete. I have no reservations in recommending this book.

Within My Heart is a well-told story about one woman's quest to save her ranch after the death of her husband. Raising her two sons alone only complicates matters, especially when the younger continues to get into trouble. Then, she meets the man of her future, but she doesn't see it like the reader does, because...he's a doctor? Ordinarily, any woman would be happy to meet up with a handsome doctor, but our protagonist is leery of all doctors because her father was one and mistreated (not in a medical sense) everyone in sight.This book was a fun read, complete with the details I love in historical fiction...i.e. - what was it like to live during this time? what were the triumphs? the hardships? I definitely recommend this book

I have had this book for around 8-10 years. When I would have someone new over and show them some of my intriguing items, this was often a book I would show. People would act like I was weird for being an adult, and having a "children's book" regarding the Holocaust of all things. I would explain that hatred in the world is all too alive and real, and how we need to be much more supportive of positivity, loving each other, and promoting what's good and teaching why what's bad is bad (negativity). A lot of "skin deep" people still found it weird, a lot of open-minded people thought it was great that such a book existed.Currently, a few days ago, there was a current event that dealt with extreme hatered, racism, etc... nobody is wondering why I have the book and show it to people now. They get it, they finally realized the sad reality of the things that we keep lurking in the shadows...

This book is based on the premise that the Holocaust would not have happened had the civilians of Germany objected to their neighbors being harmed. This is then framed as an allegory with woodland animals who are being taken away one group at a time by the "Terrible Things." The story's ending is not happy and saccharine, but instead sad and foreboding--which seems appropriate for the subject matter. The book presents a difficult topic in a way that conveys the seriousness of it without making it too scary.As a high school teacher, I use this book in conjunction with the "First They Came for the Socialists" text to demonstrate how an author can adapt a message for different audiences. My high school students enjoy the book for this activity.The illustrations are beautiful and convey the seriousness of the topic as well.

I teach 4th grade. This year I decided to do Number the Stars. It is a simple book that deals with the horrors of Nazi persecution. Since my students have no prior knowledge of the Holocaust, I wanted to find a picture book that dealt with the issues in a profound yet accessible way. This book surpassed my expectations. I kids really respond to it (I do it as a read aloud), and it spurs great discussion. I highly recommend this book to any teacher who is teaches about Nazi Germany. As Little Rabbit says, "Hopefully someone will listen." so that it never happens again.

This book is lastingly powerful. My wife, a storyteller, just read it to the kids and congregation at our corner church. She also told them a little bit about Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust Day of Remembrance, which is happening today. I've read and heard this book many times, and it moves me every time. Truth, truth, truth.

This is my all time favorite way to introduce children and adults to the Holocaust and other forms of attacks on groups of people."If we don't hang together, we all hang separately" becomes a much more vivid truism about how to live life. The images livein the minds of those who know this book. Much like ANIMAL FARM - it is an allegory that is timeless.

I'm always a little shy when it comes to the Holocaust and my students. I want to make sure I treat it with the respect it deserves, but also make sure I'm not overexposing my students. This is a great book that teaches about us all working together to protect everyone no matter what animal/shape/form. This book does not have to be to teach Holocaust, but could be about working together to protect bullying and many other lessons. Great addition to your library.

I love this book! I am a teacher, and I use this in my unit on the Holocaust. The kids (6-8th grade) enjoy discussing the symbolism.

This book is an excellent analogy for children to understand the Holocaust. After reading it myself I found it had an extremely useful purpose for young children today. So I gave it to my niece who is a primary school teacher to read to her students to teach them how to react to BULLIES. It is beautifully written (it does not actually mention "war-Nazi's-Holocaust" in the text)and is an essential book for anyone to read to children who are either being bullied or to prevent them from being bullied. Thumbs up!

I never watched Parks and Rec but now I'm going to have to find it on either Amazon Prime or Hulu. I am pretty sure she's as funny in Parks and Rec as she comes across as in her book! I'm stuck on her just like she's stuck on the LA Kings hockey team and the Broadway play Hamilton.

Retta's literary debut is a page-turner that you'll enjoy sharing with friends and colleagues. Read it! You'll be reluctant to put the book down. Trade updates with your book club about favorite chapters , and lol together in recalling her stories and references to Parks Rec, live-tweeting TV shows (my personal fav was her Downton Abbey commentary), and of course, all things LA Kings and Hamilton. Retta's combination of intelligence, warmth, talent and humor that are unique to her acting accomplishments, are highlighted in this book. From her early days in stand up comedy and live shows on the college circuit, to forging her own path in Hollywoodâ€”Retta shows us that belief and pursuit of one's dreams are as meaningful as the reward itself, maybe more so (with the exception of the Hermes Birkin, haha).

When I first saw the cover I was exciting to see and read about the actress who I watched on GGTD and Good Girls. I didn't even know she was a comedian, but turns out this girl is funny! Yes language is rough, but it gives you the chance to see the real personality she has. Its a great read and very funny.

Retta is my spirit animal. I laughed so much that I spat out the beverage I was drinking while reading and almost choked. Life is too short to not laugh every day! Do yourself the favor and buy this book. I promise you that it will be good for your health.

This book is a must read!!! I absolutely loved it. Buy this book ASAP, you will not regret it or for forget it. I ordered the hard back and lan in ordering it for my Kindles.

Twitter remains her sounding board and Snapchat her version of a reality show, but this book brings Rettaâ€™s full personality into your daily life in a way you didnâ€™t know you needed it.She may not be the shâ€” yet, but she knows how to own hers, making this more than just an enjoyable and relatable read. She makes you feel like youâ€™re sipping on some Dark Maaaa-gic coffee with her.

I read an excerpt from this book in a magazine and immediately ordered in on Kindle. It is a laugh out loud book that entertains from beginning to end. Highly recommended

Loved this, couldnâ€™t put it down. Reading this is like hanging out with your best friend, IF your best friend is hilarious. Couldnâ€™t relate to the coffee or handbag obsession but I still wanted to hear all about it. I CAN relate to the Hamilton obsession and Iâ€™m totally jelly cause Retta has seen it SIX times and Iâ€™ve only seen it once. I loved the chapter about the celebrity encounters at awards shows and I wished that chapter would go on forever.

If you want to see wild Alaska, don't skip over Southcentral just because you see cars and tall buildings in Anchorage. The hikes detailed in this book start on or near the road system. But you're far more likely to see moose, bear, dall sheep, and other wildlife on these trails than in the remote bush. Some of the trails are crowded (by Alaska standards--perhaps six hikers per mile) in the sunny season, but others see very little traffic. And, even on the most crowded trails such as McHugh and Bird Ridge, you escape most other hikers after about a thousand feet. By the time you work your way into the high valleys, you're usually the only one up there. The views are astounding, and the weather far, far nicer than SE or SW Alaska. Worth a look, even if you're only in Anchorage for a few days.

First, I should say that "for hikes in the vicinity of Anchorage" is a little misleading. Southcentral Alaska includes thousands of square miles worth of gorgeous trails and hikeable terrain, and this book is probably the best one to help you get out there. It includes maps for all hikes, as well as vital statistics like distance, estimated hiking time (take with a grain of salt!), total elevation gain, and seasons that it's open. Indexes in the back help you look for a hike by season, area, length, or children-suitability.After 17 years in Alaska, ten with the same dog-eared copy of 55 Ways, I haven't been disappointed yet.
