Like Tarentino, Leyner pushes the acceptable limits of good taste. He also finds endless new combinations of cultural and stylistic tropes to dazzle the ear. And he's addictively entertaining. And at the end, you may wonder if it adds up to anything.

One of the most outrageous and hilarious books I've ever read, ideas and images from "My Cousin, My Gastroenterologist" stays with me months after I read it. Highly recommend for those seeking absurdist post-modern prose.
This surprising novel is really a series of comic ideas rather than a conventional story...and it works beautifully...plenty of wildly funny passages that I find myself laughing over again and again.
This is a very, very strange book. It's not exactly an easy read, but it's worth it if you just go with it. Note: this is experimental fiction, so you will have an immediate reaction and be tempted to put it aside. Decide on your tolerance for that before you buy.
i bought this for a class and i had to read it/ it is extremely interesting but a bit too odd for my tastes. i wouldn't re-read it.
Leyner is always a rip.
