Despite the Amazon listing, this book lists copyright dates as 2000 and 2017. It appears to contain all original 2000-era information. That’s space shuttle, no mention of the ISS at all. It tells (in present tense, which is odd since there’s no more shuttle program) the story of an astronaut named Linda, whose shuttle mission is to repair a telescope. (Probably a fictionalized Hubble.)There are other easy reader space books with up to date content. This isn’t one of them.

I read a couple of these types of books to my 4 year-old son every night. This one was a little bit longer of a read than the others at this level but was very interesting and entertaining to him still. The books he enjoys the most are usually the Star Wars or Superhero Squad types, he hasn't been too interested at all in the other "real" topics. As I read it to him I threw in a little bit extra about the space shuttle and he asked questions about different things. This was a very educational book for him, which was a huge bonus because it was also one of the books he has been most interested in.

If you're raising a mission-to-Mars-ready child, or lusting after that Elvis-haired engineer like I am, then this is a good entry-level book that even explains toilets out in space. The main character is Linda, who is sometimes illustrated and sometimes, you know, shown using stock astronaut photography. Interestingly, I was more bothered than the children by shots in which Linda seemed to be sporting dark hair and a mustache while on a space walk. Perhaps it's a little-known effect of zero gravity?

Great little book, I purchased for my granddaughter who is in kindergarten, but who loves everything about space. Very informative...a little above her reading level, but we enjoyed reading it together.

Our toddler is fascinated with space and this is better than advertised to explain what an astronaut is! You can turn on NASA TV but having this little L2 reader is a great resource guide. Perfect for age appropriate information.

It is very self explained! My son wants to be an astronauta and this book did not disappointed us!

This is a really great book. There were so many questions and explanations what would happen under those circumstances. Great resource for murder or accident scenes with a variety of topics. This will be very helpful in writing my story.I also got More Forensics and Fiction: Crime Writers' Morbidly Curious Questions Expertly Answered which had even more examples. Both books are great. I'm so glad I came across both books which gives examples on symptoms and treatment methods and whether or not a person can survive in those circumstances.

This third book by D.P. Lyle. M.D. continues the format of his other two volumes and begins with the caveat, "This book is to provide writers of fiction with answers to basic and complex questions on medical and forensic issues. It is not to be used for diagnosis or for real-life behavior." That said, the Table of Contents lists 283 pages of questions concerning causes and results of death; an Index aphabetizes the subjects from "abortive herbs" to "zombie killers." For ease in looking up a particular question, the pages are divided into five categories: Tramatic Injuries...;Poisons, Toxins,drugs....;The Crime Scene and Lab....;The Coroner, Body and Autopsy....;Odds and Ends -- Mostly Odds.Two definitely odd questions in that category include, "Could my character hide inside a corpse?" and " Do Zombie Killers leave behind forensic evidence?" Oh well....Authors would agree with one of the book jacket's blurbs, "Indispensable... Don't even think of writing a medical mystery without the wise counsel of Dr. D.P. Lyle." Unlike Lyle's first book, "Murder and Mayhem," this one allows an author to list his/her name and books -- nice publicity!

Engaging and informative. I write crime mysteries for my own amusement and it is wonderful to have an authoritative source to be able to get the facts right. I think it would be interesting to anyone who enjoys crime shows, regardless of writing.This book also delves into medical care in past times, even ancient times. That is really hard information to come by for the casual crime mystery (or even historical fiction) author.

DP Lyle writes a number of forensic books and a blog aimed at writers getting the forensics correct in their stories. As such, he receives letters and emails from writers with specific questions about their own particular needs, which he answers with amazing grace. This book is a collection ofg some of those questions and their answers and, for entertainment value alone, is extremely valuable to any writer. For mystery, thriller and crime writers who might use this information in their next work, the answers contained in this book are fabulous.

I loved this book. As a fiction thriller writer, I'm always trying to find ways to make my scenes as realistic as possible. This book will help achieve that. It's straight forward, authors asked questions and the author, who is a medical doctor, answered them thoroughly how those scenarios would play out in real life.It was also fun to read some of the whacky scenes these authors were cooking up!I truly believe this book is a must have for crime/thriller writers. I already ordered this author's follow up book to this one and his Forensic Dummies guide. Great stuff.

Forensics and Fiction by D. P. Lyle, M.D. is the kind of book every mystery writer should have at hand. It explains what happens when a person is killed by poison or other means so an author doesn't commit grievous errors when describing a murder. Great reference book.

I use this in ebook form and find it quite helpful and easy to access when I need it. The table of contents is organized well and the whole book is so comprehensive, you'll even find yourself getting ideas for your next mystery !

Information presented clearly, with variables explored. Excellent resource for those that strive to be more accurate in their descriptions and rhetoric.

So I decide to purchase the kindle version of this textbook so save carrying weight, and a few dollars. I was very disapointed as I bagan reading the text, because in many cases there will be a lead up to an example then suddenly in am faced with a nice bomb of a message "Content not Available due to Copyright Restrictions".I gave this two stars, bacause other than the missing content, this is a great book.What? I was not warned when I purchased this online that I was looking at an incomplete textbook. I have found this message several times per chapter, and yes I have had instances where I missed points in class, or couldn't fully participate in the conversation about the reading because the exaplme being discussed is not in my E-Book.I feel it's not appropriate at all to sell the book in anything but the same form as the print book without a warning. If there are copywright restrictions preventing you from producing a full digital version, then don't do it. Don't sell it to me, and pepper the book with little messages "oops, sorry, the people that bought the paper version get the whole book, but since this is digital you don't get the same thing" It happens so much in this book, I bet if the publisher had tried they could have gotten permission to use most of the content in the E-book, but they just didn't bother. It was just easier to strip all the borrowed content from it, us readers won't know till we've already paid for it anyway.Bottom line, if you need this for a college class, save yourself the hastle and get the paper version, you can sell it to someone later anyway, unlike an E-Book.

I got this book for a course I am taking. Unfortunately, there are several excepts and related material that are omitted from the Kindle edition due to "Copyright Restrictions". The book itself is quite good, but if you end up being quizzed on or otherwise need these sections, you may be caught with your proverbial pants down. I wonder how long before publishers realize that these hassles are often the reason why people don't trust purchasing digital material.Amazon should NOT sell this as the "Kindle Edition" of the printed book without at least clearly advertising that the book is missing material.

Wonderful book! I purchased this book for an interpersonal theory and practice course at Brigham Young University Idaho. It arrived two days after I placed the order and was in the condition promised. This book provides so much insight into why we do the things that we do in the social interactions we find ourselves in. Every chapter contains vital information about how the mind works and the inner workings behind our automatic positive and negative reactions. This book opens a window into the inner workings of the heart and mind, leaving a clearly placed path to better work, personal, and family relationships and more effective communications. The tips that I have learned in this book have made me more aware of my interactions with coworkers and improved the atmosphere at my work and in my home. Great buy, I would highly recommend!

This is a really great deal. Each chapter in the book has the *manual* pages so you don't need to buy each product separately. You'll save a lot by buying this book (unless you find a friend who already has the hardcover book, then you can buy a used workbook).The only difference from the hardcover book is that the pages are in black and white instead of in color. But who cares? Be realistic, you need this for a class, and then once the semester is over you'll never look at it again. The pages are properly numbered and coincide with the hardcover, so if your instructor tells you to turn to page #100, it'll be there like the hardcover book.

Even though this book is aimed at students, it offers the reader the opportunity to gain communication strategies that they might have not known and the ability to better understand the world of communication around them.

The Amazon listing shows a book cover with an image of 2 people, a man and a woman, on a gray background with the word "Look" in bold black letters above the title. The book I purchased was a dreary looking gray book with the full title in multi-colored lettering with a geometric design in the center and the author's names at the bottom. The book I purchased matched the ISBN number required by my instructor, and was at least $80 cheaper than the ones at my college bookstore.It appears that the Amazon listing shows the cover for the e-book of this textbook, and many of the comments refer to the workbook being part of the book, that is not the case with the regular hardcopy textbook that I have. Not sure how the hardcopy text showed up in the "from other sellers" section for the e-book, but not complaining. Just going to be very wary when reading the textbook listings for future purchases, I could have easily bought the wrong edition, and given the low price of the book I got, I think the sellers are also being given the wrong information as well.

This last book in the series was kind of a sleeper. It was the end of the series and dealt with where the country was heading and how people were adjusting and what was beginning to happen to the Indians because of the expansion. Marie is an interesting character but although she is so strong in facing life's challenges, she is very weak in standing up for herself and letting go of hurt. She carries a lot of guilt and blame for her one son and spends a lot of time pining over him when he truly isn't worth it, which also pushes away the good people in her life. I enjoyed the first two books in the series immensely. It was still interesting and I learned a lot about the era.

This is another book in the series of 3 on the history of Madame Dorion or Walks Far Woman. She is an amazing woman. Although all three books are fiction based of fact, still they are very accurate. She was a real person, really had much of whats in the books happen to her. I highly recommend these books to anyone who wants to know what living in the Northwest was really like for women, Native American women and children. Also as to how the people we celebrate as being such great american Icons, like John Jacob Astor, John McLoughlin, and others of the American Fur Co. Astors Fur trading co. as well as the Hudson's bay co. All was not what we think. These books shed light on the amazing courage and stamina of the women of 1800's til now. We should be honoring these women for the courage they faced in the wild as well as dealing with hardships they faced among the forts, men, trappers and fur traders. Native men treated their womem with far more dignity and respect then many would be led to believe. Walks Far Woman is a testimony to this.

I recently finished the 3-book series and savored each book. The story is fantastic, but the author’s telling of it is even more rewarding! Jane Kirkpatrick is a master storyteller! I spent a long time reading the 3 books because I had a heartfelt need to savor and meditate on each one. My copies are now highlighted, notated, and underlined. I highly recommend them all!

This is Book Three in the series. Make sure to read Book One and Two. This book focuses on the last part of Marie's life. It is based on a true frontier story. The novel includes: lost sons, grandchildren, death, faith, conflicts, disease, the lives and loves of her children, daily life, and more. Excellent! This series and this book deserves an A++++++++

Did not realize I already have this book because I buy Jane Kirkpatrick's books whenever I see them so they do not go out of print and I haven't read them.

Love her books. Read all this series and was so enjoyable. Felt like I was in the story. Hard to put down.

I recommend this book to all people that enjoy history. However, I would start with the first one, which I did not. However this is well worth your money spent. It keeps you reading.

I don't want to spoil anything, but my major questions from the other 2 books were answered.I was so sad for the story to end!
