Reading this book has made something clear about other writing in modern movies and TV: you can tell when an author loves clever characters, loves wit and banter. Andrew Rowe does. Many modern writers do not.The entire book is full of cheerful, almost flirtatious quipping between the main characters. They have sharp enough minds that they aren't playing catch-up with the words that come out of their own mouths; in the time it takes to talk they have analyzed what they said, come up with something else clever to add on to it, or strung together an entire sentence full of alliteration or puns.It's far too rare to see that nowadays. When you compare it to a television show where the format is character line, laugh track, rebuttal, laugh track, you can see a clear difference: Rowe, like me, and I hope like many other fans, genuinely enjoys a quick back-and-forth, with ideas meshing together not only in substance but also in time. You can find plenty of writers who will put together a few one-liners scattered through their book, but Rowe does far more than that.That is something that is a treat to read, and it is how clever, intelligent characters ought to be written. Bravo.
I stumbled upon the Arcane Ascension series about a year ago and absolutely loved it. Since then I have read all of Andrew Rowe's published books. Six Sacred Swords has brought each of the other series together and starts to fill in all the gaps between the two. I'm so excited for the rest of the series along with the other two! This book is worty way more then what I bought it for!
It has been a while since I read the 2 other series so some of the references were lost on me but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of this book. I'll be buying anything else Andrew Rowe writes.
Well, I think I join Rei and Dawn in their crushes on Keras. I loved this story! Every character was great and their stories masterfully told. Thank you for a great book, please release more soon!
An absolutely fun read from beginning to end! I've been crazily excited for this book since the first day I heard about it and it 100% held up in end! Now I'm excitedly awaiting the others!!
My only regret is that i found this author and his books before they were completely published so i have to suffer the pain of waiting for the next.
Great writing and characters. To bad it reads like a Hollywood hero movie where the hero won't pick up a gun because guns are the root of all evil. In this case it is a sword, powerful and all. But he won't pull it because he might hurt the really powerful bad guys trying to kill him. And he is really strong and good but spends all his time hurt and dying because he won't hurt anyone and he is really not that good. But good always finds a way to win...because they are good.
I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. I have to say that the author writes an engaging story with interesting characters. The book is well edited. However this is only half of a book. In fact it clearly cuts off in the middle, with one of the characters talking about how much of the story he still has to tell. Add to it that over 10% of the book was an explanation of the magic system that is explained in other books in this universe, and it left me feeling a bit cheated.
